ARE YOU IN IN HOT PURSUIT?

Thanksgiving Day Gobble Jog 2014 How was your weekend? Did you do anything fall-ish and fun? I love the changing of the seasons. It is a reminder of God's faithfulness. No matter what we're going through, God won't leave us there. He loves us too much to allow us to get stagnant in any situation. One of the highlights of my weekend was our Sunday worship service. We had a full service dedicated to worship - no preaching, just worship, prayer, and the reading of the Word. It was powerful. One of the songs we [...]

ATTENTION!

What do you give your time and attention to? What do you focus on? Another way of asking that question is what are your priorities? My mother used to always say, You make time for things that matter to you." Think about it for a minute... If your boss told you something has to get done today, you're going to do whatever you need to in order to accomplish the task. It suddenly became your top priority of the day. Nothing else matters until you get that task completed, because your job may depend on it. It's become not just [...]

OTHERS FIRST, PLEASE.

What is your favorite scripture verse? If you're like me, it's hard to choose, because depending on the time or season of life you're in, different verses become your life line. We all know and love John 3:16, For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." When I first stepped out into ministry, the verse that served as my anchor was 2 Timothy 3:16, All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness," When my children [...]

Jared Fogle, there’s a connection!

What do you think  of when you hear the name Jared Fogle? Up until recently, you most likely thought of Subway. He went from being an overweight Indiana University student to the Subway spokesperson and some say cultural icon. He made his fortune by being the face of Subway for 15 years. While most saw Fogle as an ordinary guy who could easily be their neighbor, there was more to the story. Reporter, Rochelle Herman, gained her first glimpse of a story beneath the story when Fogle, married father of two, made a random comment, causing her concern. He told me that [...]

Worth the Work

Frozen Banana Bites Are you physically fit? Do you eat well balanced, health meals? Do you exercise regularly? I used to be able to answer yes to all of the above until about ten months ago when I injured myself while running. My foot injury prevented me from exercising. Because I was over compensating for the pain in my right foot, I put more stress and strain on my left foot, causing an old ankle injury to start hurting again. With both feet compromised, exercise was out of the question. I've always loved to cook. When I was [...]

It’s all connected!

Do you ever take a trip down memory lane? Just a couple of days ago I was cleaning out drawers in my house and stumbled across several old photos. That good for a few laughs. You can read about it here. Clearly, this must be a memory week for me. Yesterday, I had the opportunity to speak at chapel at North Cobb Christian School, where my children attended for their first few years of school. A lot has changed about the school. They've added buildings, a football team, a new entry road, and the direction carpool drives is reverse from [...]

Get Rid of It!

Do you lift weights? I have from time to time. I tend to go through cycles in my workout routines. For a long time I was doing weight training, then shifted to cardio workouts and then was into running for a while. Workout routines bore me after a while so I have to change to something new. We've recently decided to get rid of our home gym. Since my son went off to college, it has served as a table, a rack, and a dust collector more than a home gym. It's in great condition, like new in fact. So [...]

Be the Key!

Do you ever lose things, or is it just me? Yesterday, I was looking for something I need next week and it wasn't where it should be. Do you ever have that happen? I was bound and determined to find it, so I launched into an all out search through my house. I cleaned out filing cabinets, drawers, closets, and I'm not finished yet. I have yet to find the item I'm looking for, but I have stumbled across many other treasures along the way. I was able to fill a huge box with cards and notes I've collected over [...]

This calls for war!

Have you seen the movie War Room yet? It released this past week and is doing quite well in the box office, ranking number 2 this weekend and bringing in an estimated $10.7M. It is proving, by it's own tagline, that prayer is a powerful weapon. As the fifth movie made by the Kendrick Brothers, War Room starred some recognizable faces in the faith community. Well known speaker, teacher, and writer, Beth Moore made a cameo appearance in the movie, while fellow speaker, teacher, writer, Priscilla Shrier, starred in the movie. When asked why she thought it was important to make a movie [...]

Cup of tea, anyone?

My morning cup of tea. Did you ever get in trouble in elementary school? I only got in trouble for one thing, and its going to surprise you I'm sure. I got in trouble for talking too much. Shocker, right? Some things never change. My brothers were a different story. I won't tell on them today (they can pay me later), but I will tell on one of their teachers. When we were in school, back when the dinosaurs roamed the earth, teachers could paddle their students. My younger brother, Steve, had a teacher, Ms. Sharpe,  who warned students when [...]
