Have you ever been to a concert in a large arena? Several years ago, I took my daughter to see one of her favorite country music artists, Chris Young, for her birthday. He was opening for Brad Paisley. Since it was her birthday, I splurged for good seats. We were on row 25, which was exciting for her. At the end of Chris Young's performance, someone who worked at the arena came up to me and asked me how many people were in my party. I told her two and she asked to see my tickets. I wasn't sure what [...]

SAME RIVER SAME WORD

Have you ever been kayaking down a river? I fell in love with kayaking on a family vacation several years ago and when my son said he wanted to do something special together before he went off to graduate school, I knew what I wanted to do. We spent a morning kayaking down the Chestatee River in Dahlonega, Georgia. It was such a quiet, peaceful morning. There was only one other kayak on the river as we made our way down stream, which was probably good since we didn't really know what we were doing. I may or may not have [...]

GOT HOPE?

I love this HOPE structure. It sits just off of the Williamson Street exit off of 75 South in downtown Atlanta. It's on a lot that belongs to the Atlanta Mission, a ministry that reaches out to the homeless. The structure was given to them following the Passion Conference, hosted by Louie Giglio. We have used it in many photo shoots with Rescuing Hope. We were recently downtown shooting a video there for Circle Atlanta for Hope. The lot that it sits in is run down a bit. It was used as a garden area, but it hasn't been tended in [...]

BAAAAAA!

Have you ever been to Scotland? It is a lovely country. While in the United Kingdom, I had the privilege to spend three days in Scotland with a dear friend of mine I've mentored since she was in eighth grade. She's now 23 and on staff with YWAM (Youth with a Mission). Since we were only in Scotland for 3 days, I wanted to see all I could. We spent the first day in Edinburgh, the second day in the Highlands, and the final day in Glasgow. It was a whirlwind trip to say the least, but I got a taste [...]

“COME ON, COME ON!”

I want to apologize to you for being absent for so long. The work of Rescuing Hope is never ending and lately I've been doing a lot of traveling for conferences and speaking engagements. I've missed meeting you here. This past weekend, I had the privilege of attending the wedding of a dear friend of mine. He waited until later in life to get married, so to say he was beyond excited on his wedding day was an understatement. The venue was lovely. It was an outdoor wedding at the Chattahoochee Country Club on Lake Lanier. The weather was absolutely [...]

IS GOD CALLING YOU?

Have you ever been sitting in church when someone's phone goes off? It's both sad and funny at the same time. We've become so dependent on our cell phones that we don't ever consider going anywhere without them. Most people I know have let their land lines go and have become fully dependent on their cell phones. It's as if we cannot stand the thought of being unavailable to people. What about God? Would you say that you make yourself as readily available to Him as you do the everyone else who calls you? I believe God talks with us all the [...]

“Lady, what are you afraid of?”

Do you battle fear? Many people do and don't even realize it. I have recently picked up an old classic and it has blessed me beyond measure. If you haven't read Hinds Feet in High Places, I highly recommend it. There's even has a devotional out now based on the book. The story's main character, Much-Afraid, is someone we all can relate to in one way or another. She is afraid of many things. I have been blessed reading this and cannot recommend it enough. It is enriched with scripture throughout. This past week, I was in North Carolina to support a [...]

LOOK WHAT I FOUND………

Do you get excited when you find something valuable? I love when that happens, especially when I realize it has been overlooked before but I didn't miss it the second time around. This week I was reading through 1 Kings 18, which may or may not be a familiar passage of scripture to you. It is one of my absolute favorite stories of the Old Testament, the story of Elijah and the prophets of Baal at Mount Carmel. I think I love it so much because God kicks butt. Can I say that here? He really does. It has to [...]

What do you see?

Have I mentioned to you that I started a new workout program in January? It's crazy intense. It's called Hammer & Chisel and more days than not, I feel like I'm the nail getting hammered by this workout. It is all about weight lifting and strength building, which is good considering I had virtually no upper body strength when I began this workout. I wake up most mornings between 5-5:30 a.m. and drag my body downstairs to start the DVD. I constantly tell myself that I must wake up or I'm going to drop a 15 pound dumbbell on my [...]

IMPOSSIBLE? NOT!

The Rescuing Hope Coffee House at Riverstone Church. How has 2016 been for you so far? For me it has been like a fast moving train and I've been trying to keep up. I apologize for not posting last week. With the first Rescuing Hope Coffee House I was firing on all cylinders. I've been chewing on what I am about to share with you; however, it never made it from my journal to the computer until now. On Thursday night, when I stood up to speak to those who attended the Coffee House at Riverstone Church, I [...]
