He’s got to go!

What concerns you in the world today? What keeps you awake at night? What troubles your heart and soul? For me, it's obvious. I spend my time focused on the issue of sex trafficking in America. I know there are other issues out there, many of which are connected to trafficking. I know we all have our causes that tug at our hearts. The thought of women and children being raped repeatedly each night for one person's twisted pleasure and another's financial gain spurs me on in this fight. There are some who get caught up in the numbers. Some [...]

Is it your responsibility?

An article I posted this week. Do you take the time to read articles in your newsfeed on Facebook? Do you click on the links in tweets on Twitter to read further on a topic? As many of you know, I am a huge advocate for victims of sex trafficking and try to use my social media platforms to raise awareness and hopefully serve as a catalyst for conversation. Once we have the conversation going, we can spur people into action. We have a huge problem in the United States with sex trafficking. I know it is a [...]

Full Body Search

Have you ever been searched by airport security? Depending on where you've traveled, it can be quite an ordeal. I've had the American search, which is a light tapping on your body. It takes a couple of seconds and you're on your way. But I've also had the Ghanaian search, which is one step short of a cavity search. Let's put it this way, the woman knew far more about me than anyone else in Ghana. The purpose for the search is for safety measures. They are looking for things they couldn't find with the naked eye. They're looking to [...]

How could this possibly happen?

Have you seen the trailer for the new movie, 12 Years A Slave?  The movie is based on a powerful true story of Solomon Northup, a talented violinist who was a free man lured falsely from his family and home under the guise of employment only to be locked in the bonds of slavery.  You can watch the trailer here:  During Solomon Northup's lifetime, men and women were abducted in Africa, stripped from their country and brought to America, and many other nations, and sold into slavery. They were viewed as property, not people. Their children were born into slavery. [...]

Be alert! It’s happening at home too.

Have you ever been on a mission trip? There’s usually a lot of preparation that takes place before the trip: personal prayer, fasting, building a prayer covering, as well as buying and packing supplies. A friend of mine’s daughter went to Kenya a year ago. They spent months and months preparing her and preparing their hearts; praying over her for protection, provision and to be used by God in mighty ways.  This year their daughter chose to go on a domestic mission trip to Miami where she’s working in the red light district, pouring into children and youth in areas [...]

How to go from impossible to possible in one easy step:

What do you do when something seems impossible? Do you throw in the towel and walk away? Or do you look at it as an opportunity?  Do you like a good challenge? I remember the day God called me to step into the fight against human sex trafficking in America.  I thought I'd lost my mind.  Surely, God didn't just tell me I was going to become a voice for this issue. What could possibly qualify me to speak out against this issue? His answer was loud and clear, Me." How do you argue with that? Then I tried the [...]

Are you doing your part?

Antico Pizza in Atlanta How did you spent your Memorial Day? My husband and I had dinner at Antico, an Italian pizza place I've been wanting to try for a while now.  It was very simple inside.  We ordered our pizza and beverages at the counter and then we were directed to the kitchen where they had large family style farm table seating.  Multiple parties would share one table. The staff worked like a fine tuned machine, everyone doing their task, and they turned out pizza after pizza with what appeared to be little effort on any one [...]
