Be the Key!

Do you ever lose things, or is it just me? Yesterday, I was looking for something I need next week and it wasn't where it should be. Do you ever have that happen? I was bound and determined to find it, so I launched into an all out search through my house. I cleaned out filing cabinets, drawers, closets, and I'm not finished yet. I have yet to find the item I'm looking for, but I have stumbled across many other treasures along the way. I was able to fill a huge box with cards and notes I've collected over [...]

“I see the moon, the moon sees me…..”

Have you noticed the moon the past few nights? It's been beautiful. I love a full moon. It makes the night sky look so picturesque. One of my interns took the picture with the moon inside of the heart she drew on her window. It reminded me of a song I used to sing when I was a little girl, I see the moon, the moon sees me. The moon sees the one that I want to see. God bless the moon, and God bless me. God bless the one that I want to see." Are you familiar with it? [...]

Do Your Part

Anything exciting happening in your world today? Any fun weekend plans? This afternoon I will pick my son up from college. He'll be home for a few weeks before taking off for a summer internship. During that time he'll try and catch up on sleep, connect with friends, and probably eat everything that isn't nailed down. He has grown into a very independent young man, very self sufficient. However he can become helpless pretty quickly asking me to do for him what he is fully capable of doing for himself... if I allow it. There are some things I will do [...]

The Poser

Do your children like to play dress up where they pretend they are someone else? My children did it all the time. You never knew what they were going to walk in wearing. One of my favorites is when they looked like a western version of Bonnie and Clyde. I have that picture framed because I loved it so. My son still dresses up from time to time for various events. His most famous costume in high school was Captain Jack Sparrow. He had the outfit, he knew the lines, the mannerisms, the swagger, and even had the accent down [...]

Throwback Thursday

Are you familiar with the phrase Throw Back Thursday? It started on social media as a way to pay tribute to someone or some event from the past. People love nostalgia. The photo is usually accompanied by a hash tag (#) of either #TBT or #ThrowbackThursday. This morning, I pulled up my photos on my phone to see if there was one I wanted to post for Throwback Thursday. Suddenly, my eyes started leaking and it couldn't be stopped. As I looked at picture after picture of my children, it hit me, today is a the beginning of a new [...]

What would you say?

What would you say to someone if you knew your time with them was short? I remember the summer before my son went off to college like it was yesterday. He was so ready for college. Let's face it, he was ready for college in elementary school. He has loved learning his whole life. He loves adventure and the idea of having so many choices for classes and meeting a wide variety of people from around the country and world excited him. I remember looking at him one day and thinking, I only have days left with him before he's gone. [...]

Have you had a good laugh lately?

Do you have friends who make you laugh? I don't mean a little giggle here or there... I mean doubled over, pee in your pants laughter. Ecclesiastes 3:1,4 says, There is a time for everything, a season for every activity under heaven. A time to cry and a time to laugh." I thank God for laughter and I really thank God for the friends who cause it frequently. Humor is to life what shock absorbers are to bicycles or cars. It helps make the ride a little smoother when you go over bumps. I've heard it said that laughter actually [...]

Do you have a favorite season of the year?

What is your favorite season of the year? I like them all. Each season has it's positives and negatives. I'm thrilled it is springtime and the temperatures are warmer, but when summer arrives, I'll embrace it like a long lost friend. Life is full of seasons too. Ecclesiastes 3:1 says, There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven:" I am in the midst of seasonal changes in life. I have one child about to graduate from high school and head off to college. These are fun times filled with more lasts and firsts than we [...]

What will you take a stand for?

University of GeorgiaStand for Freedom Event What are you willing to stand for? I have friends who just returned from Disney World. They stood in line for almost two hours to see the Disney princesses. What about concert tickets? I know people who've camped out for almost twenty-four hours to get great seats to a concert. Are you one of those who stands in line for hours to be one of the first in the door for Black Friday shopping (which really starts on Thursday these days)? Yesterday was IJM's global Stand For Freedom Day. College students across [...]

What do you choose?

What is the weather like where you are? As I sit here sipping on a cappuccino watching the river ripple by, it's sixty degrees outside. It's hard to believe this time last week we were bundled up for freezing temperatures and sledding down the hill. I personally prefer today's weather. I'm a warm weather girl and I'm eagerly anticipating spring; however, I know today is just a tease. Winter isn't over yet. Seasons come and seasons go. You don't get to pick and choose which ones you want and which you don't. You have to navigate your way through each [...]
