What would you say?

What would you ask a survivor of  trafficking if you had the chance to talk with her? Last night I was talking with one of my precious girls and she asked me if I had started scheduling speaking engagements for 2015. As I stated listing off the events I have books and the dates they're scheduled she said, One of these days I'm gonna go with you and tell my story." I had to smile. She's come a long way in the past four and a half years. She smiles more and laughs often. She dreams of a future that [...]

Who is your favorite Superhero?

Who is your favorite Superhero?  Is it Superman, Batman, or maybe Wonder Woman? Growing up with two brothers, I saw my fair share of Superhero cartoons and movies. My favorite was Superfriends, because all of the Superheroes worked together to fight evil as a united force. No one Superhero sought glory for themselves. They all worked together as one force to fight the evil in their community for the good of all. Yesterday, I got to meet with a new group of Superheros.  They truly are the modern day Superfriends. While everyone wasn't able to attend, I had lunch with [...]

Should we enter enemy territory?

Walking through enemy territory with block pastor, Dave. Have you ever gone somewhere dangerous? A place that would be considered enemy territory? You have to enter with confidence in order to do so, knowing you have the full weight of heaven behind you as you go. In Mark 5:1-20 you find a story of Jesus doing just that, walking boldly into enemy territory. He had traveled by boat to an area where a demon possessed man lived among the tombs.  He didn't choose to live among the tombs.  He was cast there by the people of his village [...]

Be alert! It’s happening at home too.

Have you ever been on a mission trip? There’s usually a lot of preparation that takes place before the trip: personal prayer, fasting, building a prayer covering, as well as buying and packing supplies. A friend of mine’s daughter went to Kenya a year ago. They spent months and months preparing her and preparing their hearts; praying over her for protection, provision and to be used by God in mighty ways.  This year their daughter chose to go on a domestic mission trip to Miami where she’s working in the red light district, pouring into children and youth in areas [...]

When a nightmare becomes a reality…….

When was the last time you had a bad dream? Was it as a child or recently?  Last night I had a very vivid nightmare.  I dreamed that I was a trafficking victim. It was the middle of winter and we were in a horrible snow storm.  People were encouraged to stay off the roads for fear of accidents.  My pimp sent me outside without a coat to be picked up by a john. He pulled up, I climbed in the car, and we started to drive.  He didn't say anything to me other than, "We're going to have a [...]

Don’t leave home without it!

Nanny Are you a clothes horse? The kind of person who loves planning out an outfit for the day the night before, right down to your accessories? Or are you the kind of person that reaches in your closet and whatever your hand lands on is what you're going to wear? My grandmother, Nanny, was a sassy dresser.  Her outfits would coordinate down to her shoes and handbag.  In fact, shoes and handbags were her weakness. She always looked like a class act, as if she stepped out of a magazine.  As she grew older, she developed Alzheimer's [...]
