RUN, RUN, AS FAST AS YOU CAN!

The Highlands of Scotland Have you ever been to the United Kingdom? It is made up of Scotland, Wales, Ireland, and England. I spent the last 10 days there and it was a glorious trip. I've dreamed of going to London ever since I was a little girl. Movies like My Fair Lady, Notting Hill, and Parent Trap all caused me to long to go there, not to mention watching Downton Abbey. I have a friends who live as missionaries in Scotland and I've heard about the beautiful rolling hills [...]

“Lady, what are you afraid of?”

Do you battle fear? Many people do and don't even realize it. I have recently picked up an old classic and it has blessed me beyond measure. If you haven't read Hinds Feet in High Places, I highly recommend it. There's even has a devotional out now based on the book. The story's main character, Much-Afraid, is someone we all can relate to in one way or another. She is afraid of many things. I have been blessed reading this and cannot recommend it enough. It is enriched with scripture throughout. This past week, I was in North Carolina to support a [...]

FEAR IS A FOUR LETTER WORD

Fear - it's a four letter word, but for some reason, it's one people tend to embrace more often than not. Many times in life we find the things we fear never come to pass. This weekend, we were blessed to have Jason Upton lead worship at Riverstone Church. It was a blessing not only to hear him sing, but to hear some of the stories behind the songs he wrote.  When he was talking about faith and fear he said something very profound, It takes more faith to believe fear. Fear disappoints me more than hope, I just give it more [...]

Are you scared yet? Be brave!

Just in case you're concerned, this is nowhere near farming community where my girls are. I took it on the drive through Kentucky. Breathe easy. How often do you get out in the country? I don't mean where there happens to be more grass than concrete; I'm referring to the place where more things walk around on four legs than two? This past week I traveled through four different states to visit some of my girls. One of those states was Kentucky. It is filled with lush, green grass, rolling hills, farm animals, and that sound.... oh that [...]

On the Road Again………

Do you enjoy road trips? For me, it honestly depends on where and why I'm traveling. Today, I will hit the road to visit some of the Hopes I mentor. I'll visit four of my girls in two different states to check in, see how things are going for them and give out hugs along the way. One of my girls is graduating from a year long restorative care program. She has wrestled with God similarly to Jacob and is now walking with a new identity in Christ Jesus [Genesis 32:24-28]. It was hard at times, but she refused to give [...]

What many have lost since their youth……….

Do you ever wish you were younger? Do you miss those days gone by when life was carefree and you didn't seem to have a worry in the world? Yesterday was my birthday. My husband has taken my birthday off ever since we've been married and spent the entire day with me. This year, however, he had to be out of town on a business trip that was unavoidable. I took the opportunity to spend time with both of my children on their respective campuses. I spent the morning with my daughter and her friends, having breakfast together and laughing until our [...]

Ewwww! Kill it!

You get a picture of this because I wasn't pausing to photograph the bug. How are you about bugs? Can you handle them or do they freak you out? I am a little better now that I'm older. I can handle them if they're small. But when they're big ones, I turn into a three year old little girl and start to freak and run around screaming. Have you ever seen a water bug up close? They are huge, like the size of a baseball or something [not really, more like a half dollar]. I walked into [...]

Let the Music Play!

Do you know who Anthony Hopkins is? He is an Oscar winning actor. While many recognize him for his many movie roles, such as Dr. Hannibal Lecter in The Silence of the Lambs, he is also a very accomplished theater actor as well. One of his highest honors was when Queen Elizabeth II knighted him in 1993. However, many of you probably don't know that Hopkins is also a composer. Hopkins composed a waltz called And The Waltz Goes On fifty years ago. The interesting thing is, he had never heard it played. Why, so many of us ask? Why would [...]

Got HOPE?

What does the word hope mean to you? It can be someone's name. One of my best friends in college was named Hope. It can also be a noun, meaning, feeling of wanting something to happen and thinking that it could happen; the chance that something good will happen; someone or something that may be able to provide help." Hope as a verb means, to cherish a desire with expectation of obtainment; to expect with confidence." In the world we live in, with almost every story on the news inciting fear, anger or depression, it would be easy to lose [...]
