On the Road Again………

Do you enjoy road trips? For me, it honestly depends on where and why I'm traveling. Today, I will hit the road to visit some of the Hopes I mentor. I'll visit four of my girls in two different states to check in, see how things are going for them and give out hugs along the way. One of my girls is graduating from a year long restorative care program. She has wrestled with God similarly to Jacob and is now walking with a new identity in Christ Jesus [Genesis 32:24-28]. It was hard at times, but she refused to give [...]

Full Body Search

Have you ever been searched by airport security? Depending on where you've traveled, it can be quite an ordeal. I've had the American search, which is a light tapping on your body. It takes a couple of seconds and you're on your way. But I've also had the Ghanaian search, which is one step short of a cavity search. Let's put it this way, the woman knew far more about me than anyone else in Ghana. The purpose for the search is for safety measures. They are looking for things they couldn't find with the naked eye. They're looking to [...]

Forgiving Forward, a great life principle!

Do you read a lot? I love to read, especially at night to unwind after a long day. I tend to read non-fiction during the day and reserve my bedtime reading for fiction. Rarely will I come across a non-fiction book that captivates me to the point I don't want to put it down and opt to read it at bedtime over fiction. Forgiving Forward by Dr. Bruce and Toni Hebel was one of those books. I started reading it one afternoon when it arrived in the mail and I hardly put it down until I finished it. I first [...]

Are we really the land of the free?

Have you ever wondered what Forever Stamps are? Basically, the United States Postal Service created stamps that never lose their value. If the postage rate goes up, then the stamp value also goes up. The beauty of this is if you purchase postage and then the rate of a stamp increases, you don't have to go replace your postage. Yesterday, I addressing my Father's Day card for my daddy and reached in the drawer to pull out a stamp. I looked down and saw the stamp had the word freedom on it. But, because it was a forever stamp, it said so below the [...]

Will you join the conversation?

Have you ever heard of an organization called Marketplace Leaders? It is a leadership group started by Os Hillman. Their mission statement is: to equip men and women to fulfill God's calling in and through their work life and to raise up change agents who will influence the culture for Jesus Christ." Simply put, they see their work life and their spiritual life married. They use their platform, their networks, their resources, and anything else at their disposal to do Kingdom work. They have embraced Colossians 3:23-24, Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for [...]

You should thank a soldier!

Have you thanked a soldier lately? If you woke up in your own bed at a time you determined instead of someone else, you should thank a soldier.  If you have the privilege of being with your family in the safety of your own home, you should thank a soldier. If you will leave your house today for work, school or anywhere else, without fearing for your safety or your very life, you should thank a soldier. It is because of the men and women in uniform who put their very lives on the line so yours doesn't have to [...]

A different form of pimping…

What do you do when the person you're trying to save doesn't know she needs saving?  Many times that is the case with victims of sex trafficking.  Victims don't always self-identify as victims and even fight or run from the very help they need.  This makes helping them very difficult. There are a variety of thoughts out there about the best way to go about restoring survivors and articles written about it. Some schools of thought promote placing them in lock-down facilities so they cannot run, even if they wanted.  Others believe they've been held against their will enough and [...]

What does a pimp look like?

When you hear the word pimp, what comes to mind? Do you still picture a man in a wide brim hat with fuzzy dice hanging from his rear-view mirror?  Pimps today come in all shapes, sizes, and walks of life.  A pimp can even be female. Two weeks ago, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation told WSBTV.com of a 14-year-old girl in Rockdale, Georgia, who was pimped out at the Motel 6 and America’s Best Value Inn & Suites.  Her pimp didn’t fit the stereotypical picture.  In fact, her pimp(s) happened to be an eighteen year old and 19 year old [...]
