IS GOD CALLING YOU?

Have you ever been sitting in church when someone's phone goes off? It's both sad and funny at the same time. We've become so dependent on our cell phones that we don't ever consider going anywhere without them. Most people I know have let their land lines go and have become fully dependent on their cell phones. It's as if we cannot stand the thought of being unavailable to people. What about God? Would you say that you make yourself as readily available to Him as you do the everyone else who calls you? I believe God talks with us all the [...]

WHAT DOES 2016 HOLD FOR YOU?

HAPPY NEW YEAR! I hope you had a fabulous Christmas and New Year celebration. I have loved every minute with my family. When I was younger I used to ask my mother what she wanted for Christmas. Her response was always the same, Don't buy me anything. I just want time with my family." That used to bother me to no end. I mean, seriously, everyone has something they want for themselves, right? Well, fast forward more years than I care to admit and I get it. I'm that mother now. Honestly, more than anything wrapped under a tree, I just [...]

On the Road Again………

Do you enjoy road trips? For me, it honestly depends on where and why I'm traveling. Today, I will hit the road to visit some of the Hopes I mentor. I'll visit four of my girls in two different states to check in, see how things are going for them and give out hugs along the way. One of my girls is graduating from a year long restorative care program. She has wrestled with God similarly to Jacob and is now walking with a new identity in Christ Jesus [Genesis 32:24-28]. It was hard at times, but she refused to give [...]

How full is your plate?

When your family has dinner together is the food plated and then served? Or does your family leave the food on the stovetop and counter for people to serve themselves? Or still, is the food brought to the table and everything passed around as people serve themselves? Growing up, Mom always put the food on the table and we passed everything around to fill our plates. In my house we typically serve our own plates buffet style and then take our plates to the table. More often than not, someone will put more of something on their plate than they can [...]

Could today be the day?

Have you ever noticed that amazing days start out as ordinary days? The day I got my first full time job was an ordinary day until the phone call came with a job offer. The day my husband proposed to me was just an ordinary day until he got down on one knee. The day I gave birth to my children was an ordinary day until my labor started. How about you? Are there big moments in your life that you would call markers that started off as ordinary days? I'm sure Abraham woke up and went about his daily routine [...]

How do you use it?

Have you ever straightened out a paperclip to use as a tool? Used a dime to twist a screw because you didn't have a screwdriver handy? Have you used a clothespin to hold a bag of chips closed? There are many times people use things as they weren't intended and no harm is done. Let's face it, using a clothespin as a chip clip doesn't damage the clothes pin. In fact, once your bag of chips is finished, you can use the clothespin to put your laundry out on the line if you wanted to (assuming you actually had a [...]

I’m Not a Fan of Grey Bears

Did you ever have a teddy bear growing up? It is a very common gift for people to give to an expectant mother. It is also a common gift given on Valentine's Day as an expression of love and affection. A couple of days ago I had one of my readers contact me about a catalog she received in the mail from the Vermont Teddy Bear Company. She said she has ordered teddy bears from them for years to give as gifts; however, she wouldn't be ordering from them ever again. Why? Because they have chosen to venture down a [...]

What or who is number one?

Do you have a Facebook page? I do and I am on it fairly regularly, posting articles on sex trafficking as well as praises for great things that happen in the fight. I tend to skim over other things, trying to avoid being sucked in for hours. Sometimes there are stories and posts that just draw you in and demand your attention. This morning I read a post by a friend who shared a conversation between her and a little boy God has brought into her life. It was precious. He wanted to know, ...what's more important, worshiping God or getting [...]

Making the impossible possible…

What's your dream? If you could do anything, go anywhere, see anything, what would it be? If you're having trouble coming up with an answer, think back to what you wanted to be when you grew up. Most of us put few restrictions on ourselves when we were little. We thought that anything was possible. What happened? We grew up. We allowed ourselves to get jaded. We factored God out of the equation and started looking at what we were capable of doing. Suddenly, our dreams got very small... small and realistic. Possible. Mark 10:14 says, When Jesus saw this, He [...]

You can do it, because He can do it!

Do you like to run on the beach? For me, anything you have to do in life is better if you can do it on a beach. This morning I went out for my morning run at the beach (I know some of you are still shocked that I am running a year after I said I was not a runner). The beach was still quiet with only a few people on it and I was able to take in the sights and the sounds. The tide was out and there was plenty of space to explore. I came across [...]
