GOT HOPE?

I love this HOPE structure. It sits just off of the Williamson Street exit off of 75 South in downtown Atlanta. It's on a lot that belongs to the Atlanta Mission, a ministry that reaches out to the homeless. The structure was given to them following the Passion Conference, hosted by Louie Giglio. We have used it in many photo shoots with Rescuing Hope. We were recently downtown shooting a video there for Circle Atlanta for Hope. The lot that it sits in is run down a bit. It was used as a garden area, but it hasn't been tended in [...]

DO YOU HAVE A BIG BUT?

Do you have a big but? I'm not talking about your backside. That would be your butt, and we won't go there. I'm asking if there's a but in your life that is keeping you from believing what God's telling you or what He's asking you to do. Abraham is viewed as the father of the Christian faith. In Genesis 15:5, God takes Abram outside to look at the stars and declares that his descendants will be as numerous, He took him outside and said, "Look up at the heavens and count the stars-- if indeed you can count them." Then [...]

What do you see?

Have I mentioned to you that I started a new workout program in January? It's crazy intense. It's called Hammer & Chisel and more days than not, I feel like I'm the nail getting hammered by this workout. It is all about weight lifting and strength building, which is good considering I had virtually no upper body strength when I began this workout. I wake up most mornings between 5-5:30 a.m. and drag my body downstairs to start the DVD. I constantly tell myself that I must wake up or I'm going to drop a 15 pound dumbbell on my [...]

Are you bringing Jesus this Christmas?

Do you collect anything at Christmas time? For a while I collected Christmas tea pots. That fad passed quickly and I switched to snowmen. The top of my entertainment center looks like we had a major snow storm, I have so many snowmen up there. The most recent thing I've been collecting is nativity scenes. There are so many unique ones out there. I love the idea of buying them from different countries, but clearly I have some traveling that needs to take place because the only international nativities I have are a small nativity a former student brought me from Israel [...]

What do you see in Christmas lights?

Can you believe it's December 1st? Just 24 days until Christmas. I think it seems to come faster each year. I want to be intentional this year and take time every day leading up to Christmas to focus on one thing that points to Jesus. Today, my focus is on the lights of Christmas. The custom of using lights as part of the Christmas decorations dates back to pre-electricity days. People would use candles on their trees. One of our family's favorite things to do is to drive to the Lights of Life at Life University in Marietta, Georgia and [...]

ARE YOU IN IN HOT PURSUIT?

Thanksgiving Day Gobble Jog 2014 How was your weekend? Did you do anything fall-ish and fun? I love the changing of the seasons. It is a reminder of God's faithfulness. No matter what we're going through, God won't leave us there. He loves us too much to allow us to get stagnant in any situation. One of the highlights of my weekend was our Sunday worship service. We had a full service dedicated to worship - no preaching, just worship, prayer, and the reading of the Word. It was powerful. One of the songs we [...]

Do you dread doing it?

It's time. No matter how much I hate doing it, it just has to be done. What am I talking about? Mopping. It is one of the household chores that I absolutely avoid until it can't be avoided anymore. Depending on how much time I've allowed to pass since the last time I mopped the job may take longer, more scrubbing. In reality, it would be easier if I would stop avoiding it and do it frequently. Then I'd just be maintaining instead of hard scrubbing. The funny thing is, the moment I finish mopping, I'm so happy I did [...]

This rocked my world and became a game changer.

Do you have a big family? Compared to my grandmother, who was one of ten children, I have a small family. I was one of three. I'm the middle child and the only daughter. I tell my brothers that our family is like an Oreo cookie, the best part is in the center. My husband and I have two children. They are our joy. I have loved every stage of their lives from babies to almost adulthood. I would say they are two of my best friends; however, the greater blessing is that they say the same thing about me. [...]

Does He Know You?

Are you a coffee drinker? It's become quite the rage ever since the onset of the Starbucks' coffeehouse movement that began after 1983. Today people meet and hang out in coffeehouses like they used to do in bars. You can read more about what spurred Howard Schultz to create the coffeehouse tradition here. I am funny about the coffee mug I use. It has to fit comfortably in my hand, not being too heavy to hold yet thick enough to keep the coffee hot. My favorite coffee mugs are not only highly functional, but they're stinking cute too. They're made by Glory [...]

Are you covered?

"Um, is this working?" Did it rain at your house last night? We had a torrential downpour here in Atlanta, accompanied by thunder, lightning and the occasional flicker of the power. It wouldn't have been so bad except we had fifteen college age kids crammed in one room for Bible study, without their cell phones. We have a practice of leaving our cell phones in the bowl at the door when we come in so we don't get distracted, so when the power went off no one had a flashlight handy. Thankfully, it only stayed off about a [...]
