Front Line Friday!

It's Front Line Friday! I'm so excited to be able to introduce you to Redeeming Joy and its founder, Lanie George. Lanie and I originally met through another anti-trafficking organization and quickly became friends. She's based in Charlotte, North Carolina (my home state). We had the opportunity to attend an event in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. She is fierce and has a passion to see human trafficking eradicated from our nation. It's my pleasure to share some of her thoughts with you today. Lanie, when did you first learn about trafficking taking place in America? This is a tough one because [...]

What do you expect?

When you ask God to move in a situation, what do you expect to happen? Do expect to be disappointed? Do you think He even hears you? Prayer is important. If it wasn't, Jesus wouldn't have done it. Yet, He prayed and He prayed often. He prayed early in the morning (Mark 1:35).  He prayed over meals (Matthew 26:26). And He prayed in crisis situations when He needed a miracle to happen (John 11:41-43). Jesus knew when He prayed, the Father heard Him. From Prostitute to Preacher

Have you already seen Christmas decorations out in the stores? It blows my mind by how quickly retailers rush us through the holidays. It isn't even Halloween yet and the Christmas decor seems to be in many retail stores. I can't think about Christmas without thinking about the Salvation Army Bell Ringers.  Have you ever wondered what happens to the money you give, where it goes? Well, yesterday I had the privilege to tour Salvation Army's Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center. It was a stunning facility established to minister to a community of people in need. While the [...]

What are you doing about it?

How old do you think you need to be to join the fight against human sex trafficking? Should there be specific age to get involved? Sex trafficking is often called modern day slavery.  Girls in the trade are called prisoners or captives. Isaiah 61:1-2 says, The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor and the day [...]

Unlikely Hero

Photo: ABC News Have you seen any of the news coverage of the three women rescued in Cleveland?  It has been all over the media.  Three women who were abducted separately while in their teens and early 20s and held in bondage were discovered and rescued by an unsuspecting neighbor, an unlikely hero. One of the victims, Amanda Berry, took advantage of her captors absence and began screaming for help.  Her neighbor, Charles Ramsey, said he wasn’t a hero.  When asked about his neighbor, Ramsey said, I give this dude his mail when it comes to my house. [...]
