This rocked my world and became a game changer.

Do you have a big family? Compared to my grandmother, who was one of ten children, I have a small family. I was one of three. I'm the middle child and the only daughter. I tell my brothers that our family is like an Oreo cookie, the best part is in the center. My husband and I have two children. They are our joy. I have loved every stage of their lives from babies to almost adulthood. I would say they are two of my best friends; however, the greater blessing is that they say the same thing about me. [...]

Are you scared yet? Be brave!

Just in case you're concerned, this is nowhere near farming community where my girls are. I took it on the drive through Kentucky. Breathe easy. How often do you get out in the country? I don't mean where there happens to be more grass than concrete; I'm referring to the place where more things walk around on four legs than two? This past week I traveled through four different states to visit some of my girls. One of those states was Kentucky. It is filled with lush, green grass, rolling hills, farm animals, and that sound.... oh that [...]

How far will you travel?

Do you travel during the holidays? Our travel consists of seeing family. My parents live in North Carolina, about six hours away. My older brother lives five hours from me and my baby brother lives across the country in Colorado. I don't want to even think about how long of a drive that would be. If I travel there, it's by plane. It's not always convenient nor does it always fit in the budget to travel, but we do because our family is important to us. We're willing to sacrifice and/or be inconvenienced to spend time with them. We love [...]

Happy Thanksgiving!

How will you celebrate Thanksgiving this year? Will you be traveling to spend the holiday with family? Or will you be entertaining guests at your house? I will be cooking a feast, beginning Tuesday, preparing everyone’s favorite dishes for the big meal on Thursday. It is one of my favorite times of the year because I love to cook and have people gathered in our home. We have a tradition of inviting friends who don’t have family close by to join ours for the holiday celebration. Another of our traditions is to have everyone share what they are thankful for [...]

Who is your GPS?

Do use a GPS when you travel? Do you know what GPS stands for?  It's a Global Positioning System and it is a satellite navigational system that provides location, time and weather information anywhere on Earth, as long as the various satellites are not blocked from the GPS receiver. The beauty of a GPS is not only will it tell you how to get to your desired destination, it will direct you there as quickly as possible, maneuvering you around closed roads, road construction or accidents that may slow you down.  It's a fabulous tool to use when traveling, [...]

Who is she talking to now?

Making someone laugh, no matter how ridiculous I look! Are you the type of person who strikes up conversations with strangers?  I'm sure  it doesn't surprise you to know I will talk to a tree stump.  I find people fascinating and I love hearing their stories.  Most people are so desperate to have someone to listen to them, they'll talk to anyone who shows an interest.  My favorite types of people to strike up conversations with are young moms who need an encouraging word and a reminder they'll survive, children who need a laugh or a smile,  or [...]
