Are you stuck?

Did you remember to set your clocks back an hour this past Saturday night? It's always nice to have an extra hour of sleep, especially when you can do so without losing an hour anywhere in your day. This morning as I sat down at my desk, I glanced at the clock on my bookcase and realized not only had it not been moved back an hour, it was no longer working. The battery in it had died one day at seven minutes past eleven. Obviously, it has gone unnoticed for some time now. I love that clock because it [...]

Front Line Friday!

It's Front Line Friday! I'm so excited to be able to introduce you to Redeeming Joy and its founder, Lanie George. Lanie and I originally met through another anti-trafficking organization and quickly became friends. She's based in Charlotte, North Carolina (my home state). We had the opportunity to attend an event in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. She is fierce and has a passion to see human trafficking eradicated from our nation. It's my pleasure to share some of her thoughts with you today. Lanie, when did you first learn about trafficking taking place in America? This is a tough one because [...]

Are we really the land of the free?

Have you ever wondered what Forever Stamps are? Basically, the United States Postal Service created stamps that never lose their value. If the postage rate goes up, then the stamp value also goes up. The beauty of this is if you purchase postage and then the rate of a stamp increases, you don't have to go replace your postage. Yesterday, I addressing my Father's Day card for my daddy and reached in the drawer to pull out a stamp. I looked down and saw the stamp had the word freedom on it. But, because it was a forever stamp, it said so below the [...]

What’s the value?

Have you found a penny on the ground lately? I find one every now and then. I used to pass them by thinking why bother. Now I pick them up and see them as God's little reminder to trust Him as I read "In God We Trust" imprinted on the coin. As a child I used to like it when I would get a brand new, shiny penny. There was something about the sparkle of it that I found more attractive than a dirty, old penny. It made no sense because the value of it was the same, but I [...]

Jesus, the Ultimate Thrifter

Born Again Blessings Do you ever shop at thrift stores or consignment sales? They are very similar. Thrift stores are stores that sell donated clothing, furniture, and household products that have been donated, thus making the money taken into the store pure profit.  My favorite thrift stores or second-hand stores are Wellspring Treasures and The Salvation Army, not because of what they carry in their stores, but the purpose behind their stores.  Wellspring Treasures exists for the sole purpose of funding Wellspring Living, a treatment program for victims of human sex trafficking in Georgia.  The Salvation Army has [...]

Do you have an autograph of anyone famous? When I was little my older brother, David, received a Dallas Cowboys picture that had been autographed by several of the players. He was beyond excited because he loved the Dallas Cowboys (that was back in the Tom Laundry days for those of you who are Cowboys fans).  My neighbor is a die hard Third Day fan and he paid handsomely for an item autographed by Mac Powell. When someone's signature is attached to something they made or a photograph of them, it tends to increase in value, especially if that person [...]
