We All Need Through People

The mountain roads of Kentucky. Do you never find yourself stuck on a word? Where you look up it's meaning and chew on it a while? From time to time, I'll have a word stick in my mind that I can't seem to shake. When that happens, I've come to realize I'm in the classroom again. I'm the student and there's something I am supposed to learn through the process. Recently, the word that's been tumbling in my mind is through.  If you look it up online, you'll find: preposition & adverb  1. moving in one side and out [...]

What can I do about it?

Did you ever watch the television show, Kids Say the Darndest Things, when it was on? Art Linkletter was the first host of the show, followed by Bill Cosby. The program was improvisation at it's finest. Nothing was rehearsed, truly an example of what you see is what you get, and it was hilarious. I love phrases from children. One of my favorite that our family has used through the years came from my cousin, Brad. It was, How can mine help it?" He said it when something happened where he felt helpless. He knew someone should do something, but [...]

Lobby Day 2015: Raise Your Voice for Hope

Are you familiar with Lobby Day in Georgia? Lobby Day is a day set aside by the front line organizations in the fight against domestic minor sex trafficking where people come together as one united voice. The first Lobby Day I attended was in February of 2011.  The group gathered on the capitol steps to listen to various speakers about the steps necessary to combat the fight against sex trafficking in our state before tugging on the ears of those in the legislature. Since then the event has grown exponentially and the results of this event have been significant. There are [...]

GIVE, GIVE, RECEIVE!

Did you have a nice weekend? Do you do anything special? On Saturday, I took my husband on a surprise field trip to High Road Craft Ice Cream & Sorbet. He loves, loves, loves ice cream. This is a factory that is owned and operated by chefs who create the high quality, gourmet ice cream for chefs to serve in high end restaurants and gourmet food stores. They sell a very limited selection in Whole Foods , but nowhere near the selection they produce in the factory. They just recently opened a factory store where you can not only purchase the [...]
